The Story Tent: Myths and Misconceptions

What if my child does not wish to sit down and be still?

What if my child does not want to sit down and listen to stories?

At your Story Tent class, there is no expectation for children to sit still and listen to stories.

At classes, stories are retold through movement and we provide the children with a wealth of prompts...our imaginations can take us anywhere!

Children use their bodies to move with scarves, pom poms, make noises using instruments...they crawl through tunnels and balance over bridges to re-enact the Story! We shake confetti onto parachutes, throw balls up into the air and disappear beneath the waves (aka parachute!)

We catch bubbles as we roam around freely and imaginatively...

As Mothers of young children and teachers ourselves, we firmly believe that children are born to be curious, to be active learners that use their whole bodies to discover more about their world.

Our belief is that children explore and play in a range of ways and should be given the freedom to do so - this is how they learn best!

‘We must clearly understand that when we give the child freedom and independence, we are giving freedom to a worker already braced for action, who cannot live without working and being active.” - Maria Montessori

Would you and your little one like to join a class that places PLAY and FREEDOM at the very heart?

We would love to hear from you!
